10 Tips To Control Hormonal Acne

Acne is really such an annoyance, but from my study and research, I've come to realize it's mostly caused by hormones. Hormones can cause a disturbance at any age and I have a few ways to control your hormonal acne.


  1. Check your hormones

Male or female, you may want to do a hormone test. If you're a woman, your OBGYN will be able to do this for you. This can eliminate culprits like PCOS. For men, your primary care physician should be able to guide on what to do next.


2. Visit your Dermatologist.

Once you've narrowed it down with your hormones, then you should schedule an appointment with a dermatologist. They will evaluate your skin and most likely get you on a simple skincare regimen with a topical sperilactone or something of that sort catered to you.

Once you're there you can start adding in products to help with dryness and/or to balance your water levels from the inside out.


3. Get a good skin care routine.

4. Pop your pimples correctly

I wouldn't go popping pimples unless you absolutely have to and they're ready. Some pimples are hidden under the skin and never actually come to a head.

First you want to prep your skin from the steam in the shower or heat in general.

Pop around your pimple to see if puss is ready. Don't go digging because that will cause scarring and create a whole new problem.

If puss came out, follow with pressure and an astringent.

If you popped several pimples at once you may want to completely recleanse your face. You do not want to spread bacteria.

5. Kill the bacteria under the skin

6. Wash your pillow cases regularly

Overtime, oil, sweat, dead skin cells, and bacteria accumulate on your skin and hair. When you rest your head on a pillowcase night after night, these substances transfer onto the fabric. If you don't wash your pillowcases regularly, this buildup can reintroduce these impurities to your skin, potentially clogging your pores and contributing to acne breakouts.


7. Hydrate Drinking water is often recommended as part of a healthy skincare routine, but its direct impact on acne is somewhat limited. While staying properly hydrated is essential for overall health and can indirectly benefit your skin in several ways, it's important to understand that drinking water alone is unlikely to be a sole solution for treating or preventing acne.

10. Be Active
