Aging is inevitable, but there are a few things we can incorporate in our daily routine to help us age gracefully.
Hi, my name is Zoe and I'm a Licensed Aesthetician for 8+ years. Here are a few things I recommend from my experience working with Skin on a daily basis for all different types of skin clients.
1. Find a Cleanser catered to YOUR skin.
Why do you need a cleanser? Having a good skincare cleanser is essential for maintaining healthy and beautiful skin for several important reasons:
Removes Impurities and Pollution: Throughout the day, your skin accumulates various impurities, such as dirt, oil, makeup, and environmental pollutants. A quality cleanser effectively removes these impurities, preventing them from clogging your pores and leading to issues like acne and blackheads. By thoroughly cleansing your skin, you allow it to breathe and function optimally.
Prepares the Skin for Further Skincare Steps: Cleansing is the first step in any skincare routine. When your skin is clean, it becomes more receptive to the benefits of the products that follow, such as serums, moisturizers, and treatments. Without proper cleansing, these products may not penetrate the skin as effectively, limiting their efficacy. A cleanser ensures your skin is a clean canvas ready to absorb the benefits of your skincare regimen.
Maintains the Skin's Natural Balance: An excellent cleanser not only removes impurities but does so without disrupting the skin's natural moisture barrier. Harsh or improper cleansing can strip the skin of its natural oils, leading to dryness, redness, and irritation. A well-formulated cleanser helps maintain the skin's pH balance and moisture levels, leaving it clean, refreshed, and ready for the next steps in your routine, without causing unnecessary damage.

2. Vitamin C in the AM
Incorporating vitamin C into your morning skincare routine can offer several significant benefits for your skin's health and appearance.
Powerful Antioxidant Protection: Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that helps shield your skin from damage caused by free radicals, which are unstable molecules that can accelerate the aging process and lead to skin issues like wrinkles, fine lines, and hyperpigmentation. Applying vitamin C in the morning helps create a protective barrier against environmental stressors like UV rays and pollution, reducing the risk of premature aging and promoting a more youthful complexion.
Brightens and Evens Skin Tone: Vitamin C is known for its skin-brightening properties. Regular use of vitamin C in the morning can help fade dark spots, sunspots, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, leading to a more even and radiant skin tone. It also inhibits the production of excess melanin, reducing the appearance of skin discoloration.
Collagen Production and Skin Firmness: Vitamin C plays a pivotal role in collagen synthesis, a protein crucial for maintaining the skin's elasticity and firmness. As you age, collagen production naturally decreases, leading to sagging skin and wrinkles. Applying vitamin C in the morning helps stimulate collagen production, contributing to a firmer and more youthful complexion over time.
Theraderm OPC reparative serum is absolute healing juice for your skin. You can use this product daily and even post chemical peel (which we will get to later hehe). I've been using this on my clients for years and it's safe for absolutely everyone. You will love it.

*Pro tip: If you need extra Vitamin C, get a morning moisturizer with Vitamin C in it, or a Vitamin C serum.*
3. Retinol at night
Retinol retinol retinol. We've all heard it but what is it?
Retinol is a form of vitamin A, which is a fat-soluble vitamin essential for various aspects of human health, including skin care. In skincare, retinol is a widely used ingredient known for its ability to promote skin renewal, improve texture, and address various concerns such as fine lines, wrinkles, acne, and uneven skin tone. It works by accelerating the turnover of skin cells, stimulating collagen production, and encouraging the growth of fresh, healthier skin. Retinol is available in various skincare products, including serums, creams, and lotions, and it is often recommended for its anti-aging and skin-improving properties. However, it should be used cautiously, as it can cause sensitivity and dryness, and sunscreen is typically recommended when using retinol due to increased sun sensitivity.
Retinol is often considered a must-have in a skincare routine due to its numerous benefits for skin health and appearance. Here are several compelling reasons why retinol is a valuable addition:
1.Cellular Renewal
2. Acne Treatment
3. Improved Texture & Tone
4. Boosts Efficacy of Other Products
Start with a lower concentration, apply it at night for only 2 nights a weeks and then slowly work your way up to nightly. Use sunscreen during the day. Remember a little goes a long way.

5. Sunscreen
Sunscreen is beneficial for aging because it helps protect the skin from the harmful effects of UV (ultraviolet) radiation from the sun. UV rays can accelerate the aging process of the skin, leading to wrinkles, fine lines, age spots, and loss of elasticity. By applying sunscreen daily, you create a shield that prevents UV damage, preserving the skin's youthful appearance and reducing the visible signs of aging. It's an essential component of any anti-aging skincare routine, helping to maintain a healthier and more youthful complexion over time.
I love a good tinted moisturizer but the non tinted is just as amazing. These I've enjoyed the past few months. They're gentle and do not break me out as I am acne prone.

6. Eye Cream
Eye cream is a specialized skincare product designed for the delicate skin around the eyes.
When to Use Eye Cream:
Morning: Applying eye cream in the morning can help hydrate the under-eye area and prepare it for makeup application. It can also provide a protective barrier against environmental stressors and UV radiation.
Evening: Nighttime is an ideal time to use eye cream as part of your skincare routine. During sleep, the skin undergoes natural repair and regeneration processes, and applying eye cream can support these functions.
Why to Use Eye Cream:
Moisturization: The skin around the eyes is thinner and more delicate than the rest of the face, making it prone to dryness. Eye creams are formulated with hydrating ingredients that can help keep this area moisturized, reducing the appearance of fine lines and preventing skin from looking crepey.
Reducing Puffiness: Eye creams often contain ingredients like caffeine or peptides that can help reduce puffiness and under-eye bags. They can improve circulation and lymphatic drainage, minimizing the appearance of morning puffiness.
Dark Circles: Some eye creams contain ingredients like vitamin K, niacinamide, or brightening agents that can help diminish the appearance of dark circles by addressing pigmentation irregularities.
Anti-Aging: Many eye creams contain anti-aging ingredients like retinol, peptides, or antioxidants. These ingredients can help reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines, promote collagen production, and improve skin texture around the eyes.
Protection: Eye creams with SPF provide an added layer of protection for the thin and vulnerable skin around the eyes. UV damage can contribute to premature aging and skin discoloration, so using a sunscreen-infused eye cream can be particularly beneficial.
Preventive Care: Using an eye cream early in your skincare routine can help prevent the development of fine lines and wrinkles, making it a valuable addition to your long-term skincare strategy.
